The renowned publisher has welcomed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the upcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Shift Follows Poor Feedback
Brinkman takes on the leadership position at 31st Union following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' underwhelming unveiling last autumn.
On Wednesday, 2K president a key figure notified staff about this decision through an official communication, which stressed that playtesting had revealed the requirement for a more defined vision.
Ismailer expressed that the developers is now refining the project with a refreshed vision, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.
Trend of Key Hires
This announcement mirrors a similar action taken by 2K Games in August, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock development group.
Below is the entire text from Ismailer's memo:
Team—
I understand you all just completed your town hall - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Last time I sent you all a update, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most motivated and creative designers we have had the pleasure to partner with - and we’re eager for that relationship to continue.”
Given your hard work and flexibility, especially over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.
The player input from last autumn’s the game playtest was revealing. It validated the potential of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had work to do. It highlighted the requirement for a sharper identity.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the feedback to heart and revamped the title with a renewed vision - one that’s poised to fulfill its ambition to our fans.
Our confidence in this project increases every day. To boost the remarkable advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome the new hire as the latest Studio Head of 31st Union. After several months of talks, Ben comes aboard us on next week.
Ben’s guidance and experience in the PVP shooter field is vast, having dedicated the recent years creating and overseeing some of the most well-known franchises in gaming, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, Apex Legends.
Let’s together in receiving him soon. We are all excited to persist observing the evolution of Project ETHOS in the weeks to come.
