Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
